A common misconception is that LASIK surgery requires a lengthy recovery period and that engaging in sports is not possible immediately afterward. In reality, this is not true. Most individuals can return to work the following day and participate in sports during their LASIK recovery.
Returning to Sports
You may resume your normal activities as soon as the day after your LASIK procedure. You should exercise discretion when returning to sports and for the first week try to avoid:
- Getting sweat in your eyes
- Dusty and dirty environments
- Objects that may potentially injure your face
- High-pressure level activities (such as sky-diving)
After 1 week, most patients experience significant visual improvement and return back to their normal schedule. If you participate in contact sports or activities, you may want to take additional precautions to wear protective goggles.
Remember, every individual’s experience is unique. Consulting with your eye surgeon is crucial for personalized guidance and recommendations based on your specific circumstances.
