Carter Tisdale, M.D. is an active-duty Air Force ophthalmologist specializing in laser vision correction, including LASIK, PRK, and SMILE, as well as ICL surgery, cataract procedures, and eyelid treatments. A native of Alabama and Tennessee, he earned his degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Spanish from Auburn University before beginning his medical training in Alabama. In 2013, he commissioned into the U.S. Air Force and later served as a Combat Search and Rescue Flight Surgeon in Las Vegas, NV, for three years. During his deployments to the Middle East in 2019 and 2020, Dr. Tisdale provided medical care to more than 200 military personnel, including helicopter and C-130 pilots, gunners, loadmasters, and specialized rescue teams.
Following his Flight Surgeon service, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in San Antonio, TX, where he was Chief Resident. Currently, he is stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, serving as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Refractive Surgeon. Dedicated to improving the vision of active-duty military members, Dr. Tisdale performs LASIK, PRK, SMILE, and ICL procedures to enhance their operational readiness. He also provides cataract surgery for retired service members and their families and mentors medical students and physician assistants through Wright State University.
Beyond his military service, Dr. Tisdale is passionate about medical mission work and has traveled extensively to provide vision-restoring cataract surgeries in underserved regions, including Africa, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and Puerto Rico. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, running, golf, tennis, and attending sporting events—especially college football and basketball.
